About Community Policing

The community police officer works in conjunction with the Woonsocket Housing Authority and is assigned to the Morin Heights, Bourdon Boulevard and the scattered housing communities throughout the city.

Community policing is difficult to define, but the police officer is expected to make frequent positive community contacts and foster a better relationship with the community and the police department. The police officer is still expected to enforce the law and be pro-active in fighting crime while providing social services to the community.
